In 1776, Jacob Livezey was enlisted in the Flying camp/Second Associator Regiment under captain John Moore, Colonel Robert Lewis. Moore who was promoted, and captainship of the company fell to Christian Snyder. Livezey may have participated in the Battles of Trenton and Princeton, completing his service thereafter. However, there is record of a private Jacob Livezey in Seventh Battalion, Third Company, captain Caleb Armitage’s Bristol company in 1780.
“The Flying Camp Battalion was now commanded by Colonel John Moore of Germantown. Its strength had dwindled to 17 commissioned officers and 159 men, of whom 75 were absent, sick, on extra duty or on furlough. On Christmas day, 1776, both the Flying Camp Battalion and the Associated Battalions of Philadelphia county were posted on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware directly opposite Trenton, as units in Brigadier General James Swing’s Brigade. Ewing was ordered to cross the river that night to join Washington in his surprise attack on the Hessians, but he considered the river impassable and remained in camp. His men crossed a few days later, however, and took part in the second battle of Trenton. The Second Battalion also participated in the battle of Princeton on January 3.”The Flying Camp Battalion was now commanded by Colonel John Moore of Germantown.
